A sleeper sofa has more fit constraints than an ordinary bed. The folding mechanism comes first.
Measure the opened mechanism
Record the usable width, length and maximum mattress thickness. Sofa-bed labels do not always match standard twin, full or queen dimensions.
Check the fold
Ask which mattress constructions can fold safely in the specific mechanism and whether the replacement must bend in particular places. A low-profile mattress is not necessarily designed to fold.
Allow for closing clearance
Confirm how the mattress and permitted bedding fit when the sofa is closed. Do not force a thicker replacement into a mechanism that does not accommodate it.
