What makes it a cloud bed: Two foam back cushions attach with Velcro and have removable covers, over a rounded padded frame and a hydraulic, sprung slat base that lifts for storage.

  • Rated well Apartment Therapy (syndicated on AOL): Tried in Sundays' NYC showroom: the two built-in back cushions are plush and good for lounging, and the nubby bouclé is soft and stain-resistant. The cushions come off (Velcro) for cleaning. Only queen and king, in three fabrics.

Owners on comfort and fabric: Owners on Sundays' page call it cozy and sturdy. One reported a back cushion that dipped on the side they sit up on each night. Another said delivery took the full two-hour window because every slat is assembled individually, and noted a stained cushion cover that Sundays replaced. (source)

  • There is no official definition of a cloud bed: it usually means a low platform bed with plush upholstery that extends past the mattress edge. (Sleepopolis)
  • Upholstered frames can need special cleaning and make vacuuming around and under the bed harder. Low frames can strain knees getting in and out, and edges that stick out past the mattress are easy to stub a toe on in the dark. (Sleepopolis)
